Wherever. ( I'm actually not using the ecasoundrc)

The application might even be that smart that it puts certain important
threads on a different processor on its own..

I just don't want to make things too complicated. As I said schedtool needs
just a simple parameter at start. Done.
I am sure that this could be done easily. This way schedtool would become
obsolete in my case.

Has anybody played with that schedtool parameter? Give it a try and report

I'd say talking about scheduling and realtime scheduling - one of the main
ecasound features - is as close as talking about OS can get. ;)
