Subject: suse error: alsa/oss
Date: Sat Nov 22 2003 - 02:07:14 EET
SuSE 9 has a patch (25 MB) for their kernels (2.4.21-smp & athlon) to deal with alsa oops oss emulation. This may be what is messing up my sound still.
ecasound -i somefile -o oss not recognized. Also
ecasound -o alsa_pcm not recognized
plain ecasound -i somefile.wav is OK!
They ship with alsa-0.9.6 but the fixes for oss oops are in 0.9.7 and the latest is 0.9.8 (as per the alsa web pages) which I cannot compile because my source tree according to SuSE needs another download (35MB); and alsa is to be compiled against a fully configured source tree.
This is not the Linux-audio list to be sure but everyone here is into advanced sound, no? I am in the hands of anyone who has information.
