Nope, cop-set is so called real-time operation and can be performed during
processing. List of real-time safe operations can be found from
ecasound-iam(5). Currently the list is as follows:
'start', 'stop', 'setpos', 'rewind', 'forward',
'c-select', 'c-mute', 'c-bypass', 'cop-select', 'copp-select'

Yes, but note that you cannot add nor remove effects in real-time (i.e.
cop-add and cop-remove are no rt-safe).
