No! This was really a much needed feature...
One thing that, while not solving the problem entirely, might help, is
implementing the ability to specify alternate config-files from the
command line. (I've wished for that at whiles while testing different
params in the config-file.)
Something that could be done too would be to move .ecasoundrc in
.ecasound/ecasoundrc. Reasons? Right now user defined preset and
resource files are stored in ecasound-config by default, this should
have been .ecasound-config, if anything. But while we're at it, why not
move everything ecasound related in a user's home directory to
